Get To Know Me
Well, hi there!
I thought I would do a quick intro so you can get to know the person behind Centre For Cancer Nutrition. And it really is only one person here.
First of all, my name is Alexandra but it is often shortened to Alyx (I will explain why the ‘y’ another day 😉) I live in Melbourne, Australia where we often have four seasons in one day. I like the cold days the best.
I share my life with my husband James and our fur kid/cat, Tam. Tam is an absolute hoot and has the biggest personality and attitude!
I have a Bachelor of Applied Science from LaTrobe University and I started my working life as an Orthoptist - that’s eyes not feet! But life took a turn after I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I was diagnosed nine weeks before my wedding and everything from that point on in our lives really hasn’t been what we planned.
I was very unwell from my first A/C chemo. Mouth sores and nausea led to me not being able to eat and I lost a lot of weight quickly. I had very little desire to eat too because food simply wasn’t enjoyable anymore. It was a miserable time.
This led me to starting Centre For Cancer Nutrition and helping other people find a way to make food fit around their side effects. And most importantly, nourish the body so it can simply keep fighting.
